1. Open Site Designer on the HP laptop. That is the WHITE HAND icon on the taskbar.
2. You will see a large blank area on the LEFT and the PAGES & ELEMENTS lists on the
RIGHT.
3. Generally, the only page you need to update is the current months DIARY.
4. The easy way is to use the SCROLL on the extreme right of PAGES & ELEMENTS and
drag it down to the month you want.
5. Double click on the page: eg Daily Diary: 2011 August
6. This will open the page for editing.
7. Type in what you want. At the TOP of the screen you only have a few options about
typeface, BOLD (on/off)) and ITALICS (on/off).
8. Try to keep to the style used if in doubt, open Google Chrome and view a similar
page.
9. Type in the changes you want, then from the TOP of the page, click: Publish -> Publish
Now -> then click OK.
10. This will open another window. When the OFFLINE publishing is done, click on CLOSE.
Then close SITE DESIGNER.
11. Next On the DESHTOP, click on Start ->Programs->Internet->1GlobalSCAPE->CuteFTP
Professional -> CuteFTP Professional.
12. Be VERY careful ...
13. There is no need for any passwords or anything. It is all automatic. Two panes will
open. The LEFT pane is the HP computer. It will automatically show the changed pages
on the website. The RIGHT pane is the master server .
14. Double click on the folder marked public_html.
15. This will let you into more folders. Click on the folder called content
16. You are now in the heart of the website.
17. Drag the files on the LEFT pane to the content folder.
18. Make sure you drag ALL the files you have updated.
19. At the BOTTOM of the screen, you will see the file transfers take place.
20. CuteFTP Professional should close by itself when the last file is transferred. If it stays
open click on File -> Exit (or Alt-Q).
21. Open Thumbs Plus (on the bottom toolbar). That should open to
C:\Downloads\website\peter991\uploads. This is the OFFLINE side of the website. Drag
the files there into the next folder up called Uploaded. You will be asked if you wish to
over-write the files the answer is YES.
22. Open any browser (if you use Google Chrome you will have to clear the cache first)
and check your work.
